First up  is the one that most people know about the College M Trail. The trailhead is about 10 minutes from our downtown store. This hike is just under 2 miles. At the top you can sit next to the large ‘M’ and take in the views of Bozeman. Hikers of all ages can conquer this one.

Another local favorite is any of the trails up in the Hyalite Reservoir. The reservoir is about 20 minutes away and has different hikes for all levels. A popular one is the reservoir trail which is a little under 3 miles. The trail is suitable for all hiking levels.

Drive 20 minutes in the other direction and you will find the Pine Creek Recreation Area. This hike goes to an alpine lake, and it’s a bit more challenging. The trail is a total of 9.2 miles. The trail is rated as difficult, but about half way up you do get to enjoy a waterfall! This trail is best used between July and September.

Lava Lake Bozeman Montana

l Stillness of Lava Lake

Another local favorite is Lava Lake. It will take you about 40 minutes to get to the trailhead from our store. This is a moderate to easy trail that is about 5.5 miles in and out. The trail is best used from March through October. The views of Lava Lake will not disappoint!

Fairy Lake The Montana Scene

l Views above Fairy Lake l

Another great lake hike in the Bridger Mountains is Fairy Lake. This hike is about 30 minutes away from downtown. The 5 mile trail is great for any age. The best time to get on this trail is May through October. Bring a bathing suit with you as swimming in Fairy Lake is a great way to cool off after hiking up.

Come by our store and grab a Life is Better on the Trail tee before heading out on your next adventure!
