The ability to take the comforts of home with you can make camping an appealing way to travel. There are so many great places around Montana to explore and being able to bring your camper for a night, a week, or months of travel is an exciting adventure.
I recently went camping and ran into a couple that had been traveling for a month - with two months to go! They had everything they needed for a great adventure right in their camper!
Here are a few of our favorite campsites from around the state!
The West Glacier KOA was recently rated #1 in the country for places to stay.
Pat Hittmeier, Kampgrounds of America President & CEO said, “There’s very little I can say that will do justice the quality of the improvements made to the West Glacier KOA Holiday. Out of all the very deserving KOA locations in North America that have undergone amazing transformations recently, we believe the West Glacier KOA Holiday is a great selection for KOA’S Campground of the Year.”
One of the best parts of this campground is you can stay in a tent, a cabin, or in your very own camper!
If you’re looking for a new place to explore check out Stoneville Saloon and RV Park in Alzada, Montana (right on the border of Montana, Wyoming, and South Dakota!). They’ve got low prices and a fun place to check out. There is a saloon that serves great food if you want to opt out of cooking over the fire. Hookups for campers are 30 and 50 AMP and there is connectivity to water and sewer.
If you find yourself by Fort Peck Lake be sure to check out Downstream Campground! There are 85 campsites with 70 hookups. If you are going with a big group - they’ve got you covered! They have a large group campsite with hookups as well. This campsite allows you to have a full vacation in one place. You can start the morning swimming and playing at the lake and head to the museum for the afternoon. Then you can finish the night by catching some fish, using their fish cleaning stations, and cooking up a nice dinner (when there isn’t a campfire ban of course).
These are just a few of the places to check out all across our state! What are your favorite places to take a camper and have an adventure!? Let us know!
Another good way to use the camper/RV is heading to Bobcat football. Staying in your own place is so much more comfortable than a regular hotel. We’ll be gearing up to head to Bozeman on September 6.
